Hearing the word hypnosis from igor ledochowski, many of us associate it with the mode of crime to entertainment on television. In both conditions, the victim or the person who is the object of hypnosis often loses consciousness and is easily deceived, as if by supernatural powers. But did you know that the word “hypnosis” for this is actually a mistake?
The term hypnosis or hypnotherapist itself actually refers to people who practice hypnosis. The true practice of hypnosis does not involve magic, let alone entertainment. Hypnosis is actually done to help people deal with the problems they are experiencing. The term hypnosis first appeared around the beginning of the 19th century. About who said it first, there are still differences. Some say the term was coined by a Frenchman who was interested in thought suggestions and behavioral processes named Étienne Félix d’Henin de Cuvillers.
Basically, hypnosis is a psychological practice that is often used to help a person overcome certain conditions, such as addiction for example. The process involves suggestions and induction to make the mind relax. During the hypnosis process, the hypnotherapist will guide a person to relax his mind and reach a trance. When someone has reached a state of trance, then the hypnotherapist will give suggestions through words so that you experience changes. In the case of smoking addiction, the hypnotherapist will give suggestions that will help you to quit smoking. The trance condition in question is not a magical condition but a condition in which the mind is very relaxed. If your mind has drifted away while reading a book, watching a movie, or daydreaming without paying attention to your surroundings, then you have experienced this trance.
For hypnosis to work, this process must be carried out by a certified and experienced hypnotherapist. During a hypnosis session, the hypnotherapist will guide your mind to focus and relax through talking and emphasizing important words that are repeated several times.
